Greetings!
Aries begins the wheel of constellations known as of the
zodiac. Those born under Aries
have a connection with being first.
And, as ruler of this sign, so too does Mars have a relationship
with being number one.
Mars
(or Ares as he was known in
the Greek pantheon) is one who doesn't like to pussyfoot around, preferring the direct approach.
Being the God of War,
Mars is always up for a good battle.
As a matter of fact, pretty much the only other thing Mars would want to
be doing is having a little rendezvous with his lover Venus. Fighting and sex, yep these are Mars'
domains. And here we are in the month of March - the month named for the very god of which I
speak.
Although March is the third month in our calendar, back in
Roman times March (Martius in Latin) was actually the first month of the year and believed to be
the best month of all for begining a war, probably due to the fact that the sun actually moves into the sign of Mars' rulership,
Aries at the spring equinox on March 21st.

| Mars Stations Direct
|
 This being
the month of March is reason enough to honor the God of War at this
time. However, this particular March we have an additional cause to pay homage to Mars. Since
last December Mars has been retrograde, seemingly moving in a backward
motion. Many planets have their
retrograde periods and they usually do fine. But
of all the planets/gods I would say Mars likes his retrograde
periods least of all. Mars is the planet of
energy, action,
assertion. As a result of this retrograde most of
us have been feeling like we can't move. Many are complaining
of a lack of energy, lack of direction and even
depression. Those who are most affected by this retrograde phase have
just plain been feeling stuck.
The
good news is Mars turns direct tomorrow, March 10th. Which means we we
are going
to start moving forward once more. The bad news is, things might be a little
unwieldy until Mars gets settled again.
The retrograde
station occurred in mid December, but really the energies started shifting as far back as last October when Mars first entered
his shadow. If this Mars period has been affecting your chart then you would
have noticed significant events occurring around these times.
For some of us. it is possible that an issue, event
or situation that began in our lives last October - which perhaps didn't get off to a full start - will now move in the direction
it is really meant to be going. Mars remains in his shadow until mid May however,
so the next two months will be a period of adjusting to the forward motion.
